the Uk government did a study discussing concerns over algorithm recommendation, so check this out. So eighty nine point two per cent of creators that responded to the survey agreed or strongly agree that they are concerned about the biases in recommendation Algorythums, and it could lead to certain artists or labels being prioritized over others. Go figure study suggest that men and women are recommended different artists, indicating the users, gender factors into recommendations made by algorithms. However, regardless of the users, gender, music streaming platforms appear to predominantly recommend white male artists to art to users at a significant rate. In this city Is a study done by the U. K. Government Departments for digital culture, media and sports. You know one thing about the U. K. I love that the government gets involved. They do these studies, Um, and they are able to provide this insight into these things that really are controlling what we see. Um, and I'm wondering for you all is, Is there any surprise here

the concern, but I'm not surprised by the findings. M algorithms are primary. Text space is primarily dominated, and Um, you know, orchestrated

Sis had white mend M by a large large number, And I forget there is a really good book that I want to reread about like the interest Ion of racism and technology, and I think it's also really interesting. like when we talk about algorithms, and like when people say Oh, algorithm can't be races, and might well, if algorithm is written by a bunch of white libertarian men that typically fall to the right and conservative of values and don't live in a world where they have to interact sometimes with people of color whatsoever. Um, that's why when black people put their hands under a censer to get some hand santizeer or to get a paper tile, And it can't recognize the color of their hand because they didn't think that other people had other other skin colors in the room when they were making the technology, And it's something as simple as that, Um, that also you know, relates to like these algorithms that create for music consumption. Like if they create, the algorithm is created by people that doesn't with a room of people, like everybody from different backgrounds. This is why diversity is really really important, Um in the text space, because even in music and Mus Consumption, we are seeing that you know. these algorithems are leading people to only

How Googles A now reveals producers sampled and I thought this was pretty cool for us too, especially a crate digger like Jason, Then Jasmine, who is very much into coming ahead of the horizon of women in music is where she fall And thinking about like how this new A is a part of going to be a part of a lot of industries. We talked earlier this week to Fame and I talked a little bit about how A is one of our our fourth employee, honestly, or our first employee or heard our fourth team member. But when I came across this article on Track lie, it was very interesting because it discussed how a community of music lovers Have discovered a smart way to use Google Ai music recognition to like to find the tracks or to find the samples for music tracks. This method has been used to reveal hidden samples in music tracks that have been re, imagine or undefined unknown for over twenty decade. So you're thinking about Daft Or my deep, And the list goes on the amount of artists that this this app or this Ai is using or recognizing. I should say, The article goes on to discuss how the technology breaks into entirely new group of finding out the identity of these samples and how it is outsmarting some of the season, Great diggers, who have unearthed samples for a long as long as the art of sampling has existed. The article also goes on to talk about how

Like I typed in, Like Katrenata beat with Donald Glover or something like that, And it spit out a song that sounded

very early, similar to Katronat. Like if Donald Glover was on it like it was really cool. I was like you. It's crazy like. I mean. this is not no surprise to me. We have a Google speaker in the crib and it's amazing when it comes to like trying to find songs because you're can really say it like he. Do you know there's jingle that goes that and it can find it like it's not just. Um, you know, telling you the sample. it's being able to find a jest off.

You know, the jingle that you remember you know from a song like Google is really really good. So I think this is a another step in life That can be useful for audio files and people who like to dig through. creates like I do. Um, who, like you know, soul samples and stuff like that. I think for hip hop this is really interesting because we're now seeing a lot of our samples being early. two thousands. music. Um, now that we're you know, in the two thou that we're know going into nearly the mid two thousand twenties. And so now you're starting to see a lot of younger people who are experimenting with samples in the music industry there. The songs that they're pulling from are the early nine, As well the early late nineties, as well as the early two thousands, Because that's what they were influenced by, and you're starting to hear a lot of those samples
